PD supplies and training

I got my first shipment of PD supplies this morning. Thanks to people here, I knew I needed to clear out a lot of space to store the stuff. Thank you all for sharing information!

PD training is next week. They're going to train me on both manual exchanges and on the cycler at the same time, and they're going to start me on Labor Day so I'll only miss four days of work. I was a bit annoyed when my dialysis nurse called yesterday to tell me I needed a chest x-ray and Hepatitus B test done and the results back by Fiday if I want to train next week. They could've asked for this a month ago instead of waiting until the last minute. I had both done in June as part of my transplant evaluation. They're happy with the June chest x-ray instead of doing another, but I still had to drop everything to run in for the Hepatitus B test since it was over a month ago.

The dialysis center is about 1/2 hour away. Downtown, where I never go. I'm not thrilled with that part, either. A nurse-in-training told me last week that a center is opening near where I live, but my neph doesn't serve that location. I'll live with the regular drive before I'll agree to give up my wonderful neph. I'm thankful this should be short term. I'll be reactivated on the list in early October and my remaining wait time should be only a matter of weeks or a few months.

Jenn has finished her training and the supplies will arrive Sept. 4. Now they say her numbers look so good, she doesn't need to start right away. But with the tube in, ya gotta get started. Crazy.
Did you get 36 boxes? They wanted to send 18 yellow and 18 green, but we changed it to 30 yellow and 6 green since she's urinating fine.
I hope all goes well with training. The book stuff is pretty boring, but Jenna picked up quickly on doing the manual exchanges.
She can start the cycler later if she wants.

I checked out your pictures from Jenna's training. I'm sorry she's going back on dialysis. I got 31 yellow boxes, 3 green, and 1 red.

Baxter keeps me at 18 yellow and 18 green in the 6L cycler boxes and 5 of the 2L green for manuals. I have a case of red 2L for special occasions, but very rarely use it. Between that and the ancillary supplies like cycler cassettes and drain bags, it makes quite a lot of stuff. When i was training, they trained me on the manuals first and then a month later I started on the cycler. My only problem was that my initial delivery was not delivered by Baxter, it was delivered by Old Dominion. Old Dominion doesn't deliver inside. The driver originally was going to drop the pallet on the driveway but I talked him into pulling it into the garage, then I hired one of the neighborhood kids to move it all into the house and my storage area. What a pain.

I've just started training this week. I got my truck load of boxes today and though I read all these posts that told of how much to expect, I really had no idea until I saw all the boxes on my living room floor. Wow! I did manage to fit most in a closet though and I'll have a handful in the bathroom with the rest of my supplies. I got 13 green, 6 yellow and 5 red of the 2000ml bags. They expect to have me on it myself by the end of the week.
