This web site is awesome!  I am a young service industry professional.  Most of the work I have done has been culinary related.  I develop standardized recipes and train employees in commercial kitchen operations.  Experiencing renal failure, mostly without notice, I am taking some time away from work but hoping to return sooner rather than later.  I am doing HD 3 times a week right now so working seems a bit of a stretch.  I am a single male (by choice), who loves the simple, pure moments, that life makes possible.  I am adventurous and fairly well educated.  I believe in taking chances, without them nothing would be possible.  I like to debate and I hope to challenge some of you.  Philosophy and psychology turn me on.  Thanks for having me.

Hi George,

I've been on dialysis 9 year's, 8 of those Full Time.  Talk to your co-workers, you would be surprised how supportive they will be, once they understand what your going through.  Invite them to come and visit you at dialysis!!!! ;)

Welcome to our community!   So glad you decided to join us.   This is the place to be.  We have a wonderfully caring family here.  Feel free to vent when you need to.  We are people here who understand exactly what you are going through, and who are ready to go through whatever you have to face with you.  Please take advantage of all our site has to offer.  It has developed into quite a comprehensive site.  You can go in Off-topic and add  :twocents; to the debates there, or start some yourself.
Looking forward to hearing much more from you as the days go by.

Hey George,

Welcome to IHD.

I too was a culinarian until I fell prey to PKD and ESRD. It's still a passion but only for my closest family and friends. I even went to one of those prestigious culinary schools. I feel like it was all a waste now.

Where did you go to school?  Tell me more about what you did and what what you do now.  I can appreciate how you feel, although I don't think anything we do is a waste of time.  You just never really know for sure.
