The southern California fires affected us as they did many others. Fire got close to us on Sunday evening so we decided to evacuate at that time. Like others in our immediate neighborhood we left and came back later that evening after it seemed the danger had passed. We played musical chairs a total of three times with us leaving for good on Monday and spending the night in a hotel.
On Monday we were able to watch first hand the efforts of many fire departments and the California Department of Forestry who were all cooperating in fighting this fire. Aerial assaults on the fire were taking place very close to us as well. A Skycrane makes alot of noise as it passes over your house! Thanks to all of the hard work by the people of these agencies and others we still have a place to call home.
As of today all is well. The winds that drove this fire no longer exist at least where we live. Forecasts are for the winds to diminish further elsewhere.
Here are a few pictures from Monday.

I am sorry but I don't see how those are great pictures. I can't wait until the fires are all put out, but I do think it's great that people are able to provide us with an evermore present reality of all the fires, and what the people are going through.
Thanks for providing us with some insight to the reality of these fires.

I'm sure everyone who said "great pictures" meant it as, great photography and not as "oh that's great that's happening".. and yada yada.
