Throughout I have not had to miss a treatment fortunately. At the lowest point I always had the option of going in center at the Home Hemo center. The nurse also had a spare machine just for that reason. She keeps one handy for respite care or if someone has an issue with their own machine. As it turns out, I now have her spare.

It's been almost a week and both the cycler and PureFlow SL are holding up. A couple of supply issues  but hopefully by this afternoon they should be taken care of.

Years ago when I was evaluated for transplant the surgeon told me since I was going for both kidney and pancreas, that I wasn't a candidate for PD. I have since found out that wasn't true. Now many years down the road, they have been in my belly too many times that I am now truly no longer a candidate.

Being with DaVita, the only option I was offered was the NxStage. I also travel a lot so the Sytem 1 should work better for that. I have yet to haul the cylcer with me in the motorhome, but in theory it should work.

Fresenius is fantastic!!  Not a single supply issue or broken part in the 6 months I've been using it.  Very strict on supplies, I get a text reminding me to order  hehe and the orders always arrive on the date scheduled.

Very unimpressed by what I'm hearing about NxStage.  Reminds me to get on the political bandwagon and make sure the buyers know whats important - im sure the 4008B will be replaced one day.

Will put up a big fight to maintain Fresenius - not that I think NxStage has a show in NZ (given what I've heard).

I've had no problems. We trained on the same machine they brought to the house. The technician along with the office manager delivered it. Setting the two up was easy. I made a batch just in time for the nurse to do our final check out the next day. She hasn't been back. I've replaced 3 control units in 3 1/2 years.
We have had some problems with UPS but as I work for FedEx I know how to get to the correct manager to straighten it out. We haven't had any problems since then.

The whole dialysis process is really quite boring.

It would be boring, if I was not asleep for the 8 hours, 9 hours, or 10 hours my machine runs.  I tend to wake up with 1 minute on the clock.
