Well, the reason why I asked is because I believe my mom is a 6 out of 6 match.  As I posted in another thread she was denied as a donor due to what they are calling trauma, which I believe translates into history of depression.  Of course I can't really know for sure but I do believe she wants to donate, she has been somewhat active in looking into other hospitals.  Does anyone have any advice that I can give to her about how to find a transplant team that might be willing to accept her as my donor.  I gotta believe that if she is a true perfect match that someone would be willing to go through with it despite her suffering from depression in the past.  Any advice at all would be helpful.  I will take about any kidney but it sure would be nice to get one from a living and willing donor who is a perfect match.

Well, if there was one thing that would definitely throw me into depression it would be if I were a mother and my son (child) needed my kidney, possibly a perfect match, and no one would let me give it to him.  I think she should be allowed to sign whatever papers makes your hospital comfortable and get on with it.  How can helping your child live a longer and more able life be depressing in any way?  I guess I don't fully understand depression - true depression.  But it doesn't sound like your mother has true depression.  Am I wrong?  I just don't get it.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.  If my mother were alive we were going through this she would be camping out at the hospital, begging and pleading.  This whole situation makes me cry.

She would know if she is a perfect match or not, as they would of told her.. can't you ask her to know for sure if she is or not? As for the other question, she just needs to keep trying other hospitals. Every hospital has different criterias and different things they would be willing to accept over othet hospitals... so as said before, keep trying other hospitals. Good luck. :)
