Keeping loved ones up to date online

This article about keeping family and friends up to date on medical conditions appeared in my local paper the other day and my mother-in-law thinks it's a wonderful idea.   And after answering the same questions 15 times a day it does seem like a good idea, but I'm curious if anyone has tried anything like this before and how you feel about it.  I love IHD.com, but to be honest, it's not always the type of stuff I want my loved ones to hear.   Just putting it out there for opinions ....

Fox, I think that site is great.  It seems like a great way to keep loved ones updated, especially during down times, when you just don't feel like juggling the phone.  It can get old telling dozens of people the same story.

Just my opinion......but I think this should be used for cancer patients where things change from day to day.  And there is high drama.  Families do get exhausted keeping everyone up to date.  My dialysis is so routine that my family can't even remember my schedule.  I'll get home from dialysis and here is a message "Hi, you must be out doing something fun.......call me when you get home".   Or I'll get home from shopping  "Hi, you must be on dialysis.....hope you had a good run."       pours herself a "small" glass of wine .... picture is of actual size.

I agree but I am signing up anyway as I have a lot of friends who have moved away and are always curious and can't just simply ask me. Great link!!

Angie - Please let me know how it goes and which one you pick.  I'm interested to know how easy it is to use.  They all have example pages, but first hand knowledge is always best.

I am trying theStatus.com! It looks nice and easy to navigate and set up! Just at the end don't choose to email everyone til you hit the finish button!! I had to start all over!! As that email link does not open in a new window

It gives everyone you want a password so it is not like the whole world will see what you go through (PM me if you want access to mine)

I think using a journal type of site is helpful if you want to keep family members updated.
This is free - http://www.caringbridge.org - you just post your story, add a couple of photos and then you can journal whenever there's a change or update.
