I am on home-hemo. My husband and I had a problem for two days putting needles in could not get a flash at all. We called the nurse one the first day and she said try again the next day that was day two. Anyway the doctor ordered new button holes so the nurse came out to start them. He had a lot of problems and could not do the new holes (I was black and blue and full of holes but did not complain.) so he said I'll try tomorrow. then the next day... That takes us to Friday. He finally got it so we could start and finish dialysis for one day. BUT then he says I'll see you MONDAY? Now I had one day of dialysis. I have been doing this for 3 years. The week end on Saturday begins on Sunday.
Every nurse I have had have helped us on Saturdays I mean I had one day of dialysis! and they want to wait till MONDAY! The reason I am mad is because by Monday I was in pain my joints hurt my chest felt heavy and I was blotted. I had one day of new button holes. He told me Monday "we don't work one weekends." (news to me) Then he went right to my regular nurse (I have never had him before she sent him out to start the button holes.)

She called me and tells me "I should be happy to have someone come to my home and happy that I get treatment 5 days a week and I could be in center instead of home memo." Isn't that what my insurance is paying for? Or am I wrong to think he should come out on a Saturday since I had one day of dialysis and had new button holes. I did not like her tone and would like complain. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF I AM WRONG!

If they couldn't figure out a way to get you some help at home on Saturday, they should have offered you a chair in-center at the very least!

My nurse would definitely not come out on a Saturday unless it was a dire emergency.  Also she is kept to a certain number of hours per week.  He may have already been over his hours for the week. Either way I agree you should have gotten an in center chair but then you would have had soneone else sticking you which isn't good either.

Dialysis is your life, if you want it and need it then you should be able to get it. I am in center and when they can't stick me then they check my k, if fine then they send me home, they don't even ask me how I am feeling or how I feel about the decision, just send me to the er and stick a temp leg cath in if you can't get me, anything so I can get dialysis when I'm suppose to, no they don't even give me any options.
