Have any of you traveled with your unit and had NxStage send your supplies to your destination?
How did that work out?
The reason that I ask is this:
I got a call from my Disaster Relief Team to help out up in Chicago (just about 2 hrs from me. Close enough to test).
I knew I would be up there or a week. I called and made all the arrangements to get some supplies delivered. I was assured that everything would be fine.
I brought enough supplies to dialyze twice. Dialyzed before I left on Sunday. My supplies were being delivered on Wednesday.
Wednesday comes, no supplies. I called UPS and was told that my supplies were at the distribution center and I could PICK THEM UP!!
We went to the center, no supplies! I was told the driver had not returned yet. So I waited for an hour past the time when he was supposed to get there. The place closed so I had to leave. Called UPS to explain that they packages were medical supplies and I needed them ASAP. I was again told that they were at the center and to go pick them up. I explained that the center was closed. UPS told me that the soonest they could deliver was Friday! (Mind you, we were leaving on Saturday!) I had already missed a day waiting for my supplies that hadn't arrived and now I would have to miss another day hoping they showed up Friday! After discussing it with my team, I decided that the best thing to do was just go home. I contacted NxStage and asked them to just cancel the order. No problem they tell me.
So, my husband drives up to get me. About a half hour after we left, I get a phone call from my team. UPS showed up with 1 box! ONE BOX!! What was I going to do with ONE BOX?!
One of my team members offers to bring it with her on her way home. OK (so I thought!) I contacted NxStage again and they assured me that the rest of the order had been cancelled and UPS was to return it.
Friday night I get another phone call from my team that 11 boxes had now showed up! WHAT?!
Fortunately, the same team member has room to bring the boxes with her.
I contact NxStage again and they say that UPS was contacted and knew they were supposed to return the boxes!
UPS claims that the whole mix up was because they had the wrong address! LIARS!!! The label on the boxes showed the correct address!
So much for being portable!
Based on my experience, I don't think I can afford to go anywhere where I can't bring all of my needed supplies with me!
