I was on the Liberty Cycler and am switching to the Baxter.  I would normally have a dry day, but my PD nurse has changed my perscription to have a full day because the Baxter starts with a drain and you cannot bypass.  My question is, when I have a full day I absorb so much of it and I'm worried that will cause a problem.  The PD nurse said it's actually good, but I do not see that as being a benefit.  Does anyone have any advice on this topic?

Can you use extraneal for your long dwell?  That is designed for a long day dwell and little or no re-absorbing.  From other postings I gather it is hard to get in the USA, but some people over there are using it.

I used to have a full day, and also had problems absorbing the fluid.  I used Extraneal for my long day dwells.  I was finally able to go dry during the day.  I have a Baxter cycler, and you can't bypass the initial drain, but you can have it set for "0" miniimum drain.  It will try to pull fluid for a few seconds, maybe a minute.  I usually get anywhere from 5-25 ml on the initial drain.  Then it goes right into the first fill.  Hope this helps.

I was using Extraneal also, but I am now dry during the day.   I have no trouble with the initial drain.  Set on 0 and in about a minute, it goes right to first fill.   I agree with Blondie1746.
