Does anyone know how long you can keep a vial of Heparin once it is opened?

With Heparin, go by the expiration date on the bottle. Up to that time, it's good.

We have "snap bottles" of heparin,  in the UK,that means you have to snap the glass top to open it.  , once opened we have to throw out what we don't use. I know it seems a waste.

Thanks everyone - I knew it was something like that but wasn't 100% sure.

John's clinic alots him so many bottles a month (2 at present).  They have reduced his amount down some.  He is not on EPO at the moment either!  All is going quite nicely for him.  Thank God!

30 days, that's why I always write the date on the front of the bottle.

My bottles are only 1000 MLs. I use 5500cc's each treatment so mine don't last very long before I'm opening a new one!
