I am on PD and looking to change houses, and want to make sure my new place is Home-HD friendly in case I progress to that.

I'm looking for info on required hookups for the Baby K, NxStage and other home units.

- Power:  Is a dedicated 20A GCI circuit required, or does it use a shared 15A circuit?

- Water supply and drain - Can one uses hose lines running along the floor to a bathroom for hookup or do you need dedicated plumbing connections in the dialysis room?

- Any other info that might me useful.

I know for NxStage, I just run the drain and water lines across the floor to the bathroom that is literally three feet from my dialysis chair. For the outlet, we had to put in a GCFI outlet, unsure of the amperage, but it is a standard household outlet. We have the water line hooked up to the faucet but on people put in a more permanent installation under the sink.

My BabyK had to have dedicated electrical and water lines. The electrical is just a standard GFCI outlet and the water is just like what you'd see for a washer/dryer hookup, but just one tap and the drain.

The first picture is my setup. In the second picture, if you look all the way to the left you'll see a closet; that's where my RO setup is kept. The water lines run from the closet and under the bed to the machine.

 There are a few choices you can do with NxStage.   You can use a dedicated circuit which would be bennificial if you have a heavy load in the room you dialyze in as it could trip a circuit. So having its own circuit would be a plus.  You can use either a 15 or 20 amp circuit.
With nxstage, you can run lines running along the floor. or you can get a dedicated line put in but do not need it. They also have bags you can use.
