hi,my name is maria and i was diagnosed with FSGS when i was 15.In 2002 my kidneys finally packed it in and i started hemo at home in june, unfortunately in the same year i was also diagnosed with a condition called Benign Intercranial Hypertension which is when fluid leaks from the brain and has nowhere to go.A shunt was placed from the brain, down the spine and drains out to the peritoneal,so i had no choice but to do hemo, and because of the pressure caused by the fluid i lost the vision in my right eye which made canulating a little hard as my fistula was put in my right arm and i am right handed. But i learned to cope (i had no other choice did i ?)On feb 26th 2004 i got that wonderful phone call and had a transplant.I was a lucky one as i was only on the waiting list for 18 months. So far i have had a few hiccups along the way but am doing well (just need to lose  the kilos from the steroids)Anyway i am 42 years young and have 3 children.2 are my stepchildren whom i love just as much as my own. They are 26,21 and 10.I have a very supportive husband and wonderful sister who you all know as babi68,so you would all know my family history already.my user name is husi64 and my son is bradley who often plays arcade as he is trying to beat his cousins scores.I live in Campbelltown near Sydney aussie.Well i have waffled long enough, hope i did everything the right way, talk again soon .

Hello maria,

Welcome to IHD. Another FSGS'er.I'm so glad you found us, there is a lot of information here and it will take awhile to digest everything, but that is why we are here.

IHD is the best source on the web for dialysis related information because we are a patient driven and owned website. Basically you will read true life experiences instead of the Doctor or clinics point of view.

Our members will be brutally honest and open when needed, they will tell you their experiences and what what they have done to cope. I'm glad your family is supportive.

Hi Maria, husi64.  Welcome to our community.  It is really welcome to our family, because that is what IHD has become.  We are so glad to have you with us.  Please take some time and give us your perspective on your transplant experience.  We have a section for transplant stories and we would like to have yours.  We have about five of our members who had transplants in the last month or two.  As you probably know, there is lots going on at this site.  Just take advantage of all of it - it's for you!

Hello Hussi64 and welcome to IHD.  We just all love Bab68 and miss her posts since she has her plate full right now.

I see you know about the Arcade.  What a great place to lose your self and 3 or 4 hours.  I get hooked on Bubble Shoot myself!

Please go to Transplant Stories and tell us about your call and everything that happened.
