No Longer a Virgin

   I just did my first PD treatment, at home, with a Baxter machine.  Everything went well except for the drain pain, but that's nothing compared to the pain of big needles in your arm for 4 hours, with a 20 minute ending of cramps.  The PD nurse is making another home visit tomorrow because I botched a few procedures during a run-through.  I was really tired from two days at Disneyland eating too much and walking too much.  I was celebrating my birthday with my wife.  I got on Radiator Springs in 5 minutes.  Most people wait 1 - 3 hours to get on that ride.  I got there as soon as the gate opened, and went single rider.

cool!  I just started mine about a week or so ago, before my catheter got blocked.  how long is your treatment? how much do you fill?  were you waking up during each drain?

congrats Whamo    Was just at Disney World couple weeks ago.  I had to work (attend seminars) but the family enjoyed the parks.  Grumpy

just,   Sorry I didn't answer sooner.  My total UF varies from 1226 (green bags) to 2265 (red and green bags).  I usually wake up during my third drain for some reason.  Usually I go back to sleep soon afterwards.  My weight jumped up yesterday because I made a run to Del Taco (weakness for bean burritos and tacos), but my blood pressure went down?   I went to the dentist, and she drilled my gums for bacteria again.  It's gnarly.  Today I have to buy a Water Pik.  I hate those things because they're so messy.  I'm dying to get 20 foot drain lines so I can have some more freedom around the house.

How long are your drain lines now Whamo? Mine are 20 feet and I have a 20 foot patient line to the cycler. That lets me get just about everywhere I need.

My UF's vary between 300 and 900 with two green bags. I am sleeping through approx 75% of my treatment. the first drains are a little painful, but after that they are fine.  I have 20 ft drain lines.

Back when I used to do PD, my sweet wife found a sturdy table with wheels for my Fresenius Cycler to sit one. It had lower shelves for the feed bags. We put a box of bags on the bottom shelf to put a lot of bottom weight on it. We sued to roll it around the house so I could stay up later on non-work nights.

Before that I had to go to bed at cycler time since that was where the cycler was.
