Hey Y'all

Hey y'all! My name is Ricki, and I've been doing PD for a little over a year now. I found I HATE DIALYSIS last week when I was trying to find out as much as I could on Extraneal. Being from the South, I didn;t think I did anything quickly, but turns out my body just loves sucking up dialysis fluid, specially on the days that I exercise. So in order for me to lose the weight that I have gained in the last year, tomorrow night will start a new chapter in my dealing with dialysis....I am going to start extraneal. And hopefully it will do the trick, I can't go on the transplant list until it comes back off!
Anyhow, I took early retirement in June as I could not work any longer...standing on my legs for 8 hours a day got to be too much. But I am too young to actually get my retirement pay, so I applied for SSD...was told that it should be approved quickly as I was already on dialysis and getting Medicare, but still am in a holding pattern.
I am trying to still be "productive"...LOL! I am addicted to Facebook (CW anyone?), still cook & bake, trying out/inventing new recipes is a stress reliever for me, and I read constantly! Thought I would garden this year, but my deer friends thought otherwise....but they are very healthy and well fed!
I couldn't get through this "journey" without my dh Doug. I am blessed, my daughter is married to a nephrologist, so if I have problems/doubts I have a "in-house"specialist to call on. And she is a pharmacist, so any questions I have on meds are answered pretty quickly! I have 4 lovely grandbabies, and lots of cats, plus a beagle/basset mix rescure pup named Clunker, so other than being tired and without energy most of the time, my life is full!
There...probably much more than you wanted to know..I've lost this message twice, so am trying to be quick before I lose it again!
Blessings,
Ricki

Thanks again for the welcomes! Yes, it is nice to have medical help in the family...I try not to bug them too much, though. My standing joke is I might get on their nerves, But their kids do love Grandma, so they need to put up with me. LOL!

Thanks lmunchkin....Yes, I would certainly say you are from the south! I've always tried to be a positive person....was hard to do when I was first diagnosed, but I have gotten over that most of the time! Still get depressed now and again, but I think that's normal.
