Hey everybody. Its Nick. and well i just wanted to thank each and every one of you for supporting what my dad started. it truely means so. so much. i cant even begin to explain all ive been through since i was last on here. in fact, i havent been on here since march 2nd 2007. i love each and every one of you, and ill try from now on to be more involved in what Dad began.

Diabetes -  age 7

Neuropathy in legs age 10

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant - December 3, 2000

Cataract Surgery on good eye - June 24, 2009
Knee Surgery 2010
2011/2012 in process of getting a guide dog
Guide Dog Training begins July 2, 2012 in NY
Guide Dog by end of July 2012
Next eye surgery late 2012 or 2013 if I feel like it
Home with Guide dog - July 27, 2012
Knee Surgery #2 - Oct 15, 2012
Eye Surgery - Nov 2012
Lifes Adventures -  Priceless

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Hi Nick,  Your Dad was so proud of you.  I know you miss the heck out of him and so do I.  He really did a wonderful thing creating this site.

Your dad was before my time on IHD, too, but I am so proud of what he accomplished here.  So many people start their very first post with the words, "I am so glad I found this site!"

I got to meet you in LV last October..I'm sure you remember each and every one of us.  LOL!

I do hope you post more often here.  I know you have more interesting things to do with your life, but continuing your dad's presence on IHD would be wonderful.  Maybe even just a quick hello from time to time...!

Super special to 'see' you here Nick!  All of us are so grateful to your dad for starting this place and it flourishes to this day.  We have all been blessed in different ways just in finding our way here.  So, hope to see you arround more.  You too are very special to us all, and feel honored that you show up every now and again  :grouphug;

I never had the pleasure of 'knowing' your dad but I will be eternally grateful to him for creating a safe place for me to visit, whether in happiness or grumbling mode.  I would have gone insane if I hadn't found this site when I did.

Dang, I blink and five years go by!  (comes with age)  You can be very proud of your Dad being the spark and inspiration for this site!  (I haven't been able to tear myself away)

I am more than a patient.  I am a mama, friend, wife, sister, and most of all a person.

41 years old, hemo since November 2011, trained for PD and tried numerous times.  PD did not work for me , it was a nightmare :(

1998 lost dads kidney, start PD
2003 peritineum burst, back to hemo
2012 start Nxstage home hemo
2020 start Gambro AK96

       still on waitinglist, still ok I think

You are ALWAYS welcome to pop in whenever you feel the urge to say hi.  We understand that you've got a life outside of this website, but we love it when you come visit! 

Your dad was a huge inspiration for me when I started D, and a large portion of the credit for NxStage program at my local D clinic belongs to him.  If I hadn't read his story on here, and had him helping me push for the better treatment option for myself and everyone in my area, I'm not sure it would have ever happened.
