My brother-in-law Mark died today about noon. He was diagnosed with head and neck cancer back in 2008, and it's been a rough road. Laura (my sister) has been his caregiver and loving companion through it all. I talked with her briefly about a half an hour ago, and I think she's in shock despite knowing this was coming. We all are. He was a wonderful man, and too young to go like this.

Oh, Annie, I'm so sorry to hear this.  My heart goes out to your sister, your family and to you.  I'll keep all of you in my prayers.

Thank you for the prayers  :flower;

I am hoping I will be able to fly out to California for the service, but not sure yet about the details.

I talked to Laura this morning (actually think I woke her up, there's a time difference.). She sounded okay, if sleepy. My other sister and her husband are there now, thank God. Laura probably did a lot of her grieving in advance, because Mark had been really sick for the last 4 years. She told me that Mark had told her a couple of days ago that he was ready to go, and that she was glad he wasn't suffering anymore. Plans right now are to have a Celebration of Life for him next month out in California at one of the wineries around there, and we can all toast him and share memories.  :beer1;

Thanks to everyone for your prayers. I told her I've been asking everyone to keep them/us in prayer, and I think it made her feel better.

A long time to say goodbye is both a blessing and a curse.  I hope she finds the strength she needs to get through this.   :grouphug;
