 ;D Hello everyone,

I am a student nurse from the UK.  ;) I am aware that this website is really for people on dialysis, but I came onto this web site to get a better understanding of how dialysis can affect all aspects of people's lives (textbooks don't tell us a great deal).  I have been fortunate enough to spend time with people in a dialysis unit, and found that the patients themselves taught me a great deal about the management, and effects of renal failure and dialysis treatment on the individual, I have a lot to thank them for.

 :2thumbsup;  Great website Epoman :clap;

Dorris

Welcome Dorris,

Thanks for taking an interest in the renal community and IHD. You will be a great nurse mainly because you are interested, in the right things, not just the money.

http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0  Here is a good place to start.

or

I look forward to your involvement in IHD at whatever involvement you choose.

I am working my way through reading the threads, at the moment I am reading the 'workers' section and finding it really interesting.

Welcome to our site Dorris.  I hope you learn what you need to from us.  We can joke around a lot on here, but a sense of humor keeps us sane most days.  As you travel through your career please tell other about our site.  Make sure and order a shirt or something from www.mykidneygear.com

Welcome to our community!  This site did start primarily for people on dialysis, but that didn't last very long.  Soon, it opened up to anyone with any remote connection whatsoever to the renal challenge (or even no connection at all!)  That is one of the things that has made this a super-useful site.  You get every possible perspective here, and all of us need to see the bigger picture than our little corner view.  Thank you for caring enough to join us.  Please feel free to share your experiences as you train in this area.  ASK QUESTIONS!  We will be glad to answer.   Welcome again.  Here is a group hug from all of us. :grouphug;

(And a special welcome from one who grew up under the Union Jack, in the Caribbean!)

As a nurse how educated are you on the NxStage Home Hemo Dialysis machine? Do they have that in the UK yet?
