So I am taking simvastatin and fish oil for high cholesterol. I recently had levels rechecked and my cholesterol has come down but my DR says I will probably stay on the simvastatin forever. I am thinking about starting COq10 as well, has anyone taking this post transplant?

Never even heard of it or simvastatin. I was taken off my cholesterol meds post tx and restarted on lipitor in November but will be taken off it if labs warrant it after stopping a couple medicaions for arthritis.

Zimvastatin is generic for Zocor, CoQ10 is usually taken with a statin, like in Canada it automatically is prescribed with it.

My husband stopped doing the satins. He took them for about 3 years and his muscles ached like hell. Five months down the line he does not ache and cholesterol is good.

I used to take Coq10 when I had my tx, my dad's kidney was quite old (in those days) so I was told it might work 10 yrs. It worked nearly 14 yrs so I decided it did no harm, neither did the fish-oil, nor the Solidago (gollden wort in english, I lived in Holland then, but I've never seen it in UK)
