Well where do I start, I am a 37 year old Female, Australian, With IGAN. I was diagnosed 11 years ago just after my youngest daughter was born. I have 3 beautiful girls, 1 is 18 the other 13.
I am currently on Home hemo, Was doing home PD but had some problems with it such as Drain pain and worst of all WEIGHT Gain. I put on 17 Kgs in 8 months, I couldnt even do that eating cake !!!
Very disapointed I went to Home hemo training and 11 weeks later I was at home in my own room doing my dialysis 4 times a week for 8 hours at a time.. I feel great most of the time.
I have started a Facebook page called home haemo patients for anyone that wants to join in and find out what its all about.
I must admit the needling was a huge issue for me, I still dont like it but I do it. My children sometimes even watch, My husband still cant.. I personally couldnt go into a satelite centre, its hard enough sitting at home and doing it.
I go through stages where I get angry at life or I feel sorry for myself, or want others to feel sorry for me but then I wake up and get over it.. Apparently god will only gives us what we can handle and at the end of the day I am so glad its not one of my kids..
Anyway come have a look at my page on Facebook
Regards
Danielle

Hi Danielle and welcome to the group!
My hubby is the D patient and we also do home hemo. He had some tough times with the needling and still does, thanks to an uncooperative vascular system. But, we muddle through, taking one day at a time.
Your girls sound lovely and supportive, bless them for being there for you.

Needling is a big issue for everyone just about everyone. I'm going to train for home hemo when it comes time for me to start dialysis, and needling myself will certainly give me pause. But the payoff is that you are "feeling great". I'd bet that you wouldn't feel so great if you were doing in center dialysis just three days a week. Nothing about ESRD is easy, and there are tradeoffs to be considered all the time.
There is nothing wrong with feeling angry or with wanting to have a pity party, but if you can wallow for a bit and then "wake up and get over it", then you are pretty normal! It's when you let the anger and the self-sorry distort your life that it becomes a problem. With three daughters to look after along with a husband, I'd imagine there's not a lot of time for anger or pity parties!

IN REPLY TO YOUR POSTS
Having a few fistuala problems myself, Had a vascular Ultrasound yesterday and found out that I have a tightening... Please I hope no more surgery... But I found the tinyest spongeiest part of the vein to needle... Dont know how long it will last but at this stage doing ok !!
My girls are very supportive great kids really, they had to learn from about a year ago that sometimes they may have to get themselves ready and off to school and as a mother I feel so guilty for that but they really do understand.
Thank you for the welcome.. Its nice to know there are others out there.. somewhere.

Welcome, welcome, Danielle!
Daughters are wonderful! And as for their having to get themselves ready for school....builds character!
Truly, that is something that all children should experience at one time or another.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.
