Waiting for the Baxter truck to bring me my monthly delivery. They give me a 3 hour window, but that means I'm stuck here waiting for them to show up. Have to see if I can work something out with the driver to cut this down so I don't miss a half day of work waiting for them.

It's like waiting for the cable guy.  I hate that.  And I don't work outside the home, but I STILL hate waiting for people.  Good luck with sorting this out.

When you make your order, ask if you can be the first delivery in the morning. Also contact customer service (not the order number) to ask if you can be the first delivery. As long as you're the only one on your day asking this I bet they can do it. Call 800-4BAXTER. I did it once when I was so frustrated with the bags not working and an engineer called me back.

I also know some people let the driver just leave the stuff. If you have one of those touch pads on your garage door you can set up a code that only works for 8 hours and he can let himself in. My regular driver is wonderful and I would trust him to do that.

Yes, we had to arrange to take off half a day at first. Later on when our delivery was smaller, the UPS guy simply left in a protected area outside.

Had a chat with the driver after he finished putting everything away, and we have come to the solution that he will call me when he's 30 minutes out. That will give me time to get home to meet him. At some point in the future I'll likely just give him the code to the garage door and let him drop it. But want to make sure he's good with where we're storing everything first. Still making adjustments...

That's good Joe that he would do that.  I work close to our house and that is what the driver does for me also.  It is written on the order to call 15 minutes before delivery.  So far, no problems.  NxStage uses a carrior service, so I never know who is delivering, but it is written on order form.

I spoke to Baxter and then I talked to my driver as well...... if I can't be home, I leave a note on the door, leave the house open (or make other arrangmemts with the driver, put the key under your door mat etc) and have the driver do what he has got to do......

I don't wait around for them....... sorry I got better things to do

when i lived in an apartment complex, my neighbor was retireed, so i gave him a spare key, and if i was scheduled to work, i would just let him know when the baxter guy was coming so that he could let them in, i onlyt had 2 drivers when i was there and they knew where i put... they also knew about my bige german shepard lab, lol

when i used to be on pd, I used to sit at home waiting for the baxter guy to show up.  Eventually, the hpr asked if I wanted a lock box so that way I didn't have to be at home for deliveries.

I said sure, and shortly after baxter did send me a lock box (I still have it even though I don't deal with baxter anymore).  I put the back door housekey in the lock box and on delivery day, I set the lock box outside.  The driver calls into the head office for the code, and when I get home all the pd boxes are stacked nice and neat in the basement.

now that i'm on home hemo, it is a realy PITA.  the hospital has strongly recommended I don't use a lock box, because most of the supplies are delivered via courier and it is always a different person each time (unlike baxter, which is the same guy every time).  I guess to avoid any legal headaches, the hospital states that someone be home during delivery dates.  So far, my boss has agreed to let me work from home on delivery dates and it is working out well.

all the baxter guys i have dealt with have all been very nice, the one we had at the old apartment, we would give him a soda everytime bc we were his last stop and he had a 3 hour ride home... he even told us when he wasnt gonna be delivering bc he was getting married... he was awesome

So far, the call before delivery is working well. It gives me about 30 minutes to get home before he shows up, and that is adequate. We'll see how this progresses over time.
