Conference call topic:
Home Hemodialysis: Helping Patients Lead a Healthier Life!

This program will educate individuals on not only the convenience and lifestyle benefits of home hemodialysis, but most importantly the overall health and medical benefits dialyzing at home provides.

Speakers:
Michael Alan Kraus, MD
Dr. Kraus is a Professor of Clinical Medicine and Clinical Coordinator of the Divison of Nephrology at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is Medical Director of the Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), Hemodialysis and Acute Dialysis Units. Dr. Kraus' research and clinical interests include, but are not limited to: home hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, dialysis access problems and new treatment options for patients with renal disease and bone failure.

Brian Hess
Brian Hess was first diagnosed at the age of six with a type of nephrotic syndrome known as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). After three-failed transplants, Brian went on in-center hemodialysis. During college, Brian changed therapies and opted for peritoneal dialysis. After years on PD, complications forced him to again switch treatment options. After his success with PD, Brian choose to learn home hemodialysis and is currently in the training process.

Joe Karan
Joe Karan has been on home hemodialysis for more than two years. He is a strong supporter of home dialysis therapy options as well as a vocal advocate on patients becoming the leader in their health care team and learning the importance of self-care.
