I complained about the techs not getting the machines ready on time and now ALL the staff is just downright nasty to me. When I was put on the machine on Friday it HURT like hell.  I really do think it was on pourpous. (sorry about the spelling) One guy even went as far as to say that  its because of patients like me that staff leave the unit. Well good riddens then.

So .... damned if you do, damned if you don't .......

Just one more thing why I don't like this!

So I suppose the techs think a dialysis patient should never complain and just be happy all the time? Just be a good little patient and dont make any noise? Dreamers, aren't they? Too bad this had to happen to you already, but, tough on them tsk tsk tsk. You did the right thing.

That is petty, unprofessional, and downright dangerous.  There are so many people who should never, ever, ever, never be working in the medical field.  In some cases, people who couldn't hack it as a real nurse or medical assistant somehow get hired in the Dialysis field.

My first suggestion is always to go to the Clinic Manager.  The risk in that is, if the CM is buddy-buddy with the staff, then the problem could get worse. 

My friend I call the Greek Goddess was receiving deplorable treatment at her clinic.  Staff sleeping at the counter while alarms were going off.  Dropping lines on the ground and not replacing them.  Just awful circumestances.  She had to contact the Board of Directors and detail these events.  Their first though was not, "Oh my God, that's no right."  Rolling through their heads was, "Wow, she has enough material for a huge lawsuit."

We had a new Technican that was working at the Dialysis Center as well as full-time at the local hospital.  This guy was working night and day 7 days a week. 

He started out being very consistant in his training, but once he wasn't being watched all the time, he slacked off big time.  He would "hide" in the stock room and when the alarms went off, he was no where around. 

One day, my B/P dropped so hard, so fast, I lost all my strength and couldn't hardly move, I was scared to death, but I couldn't do anything about it.  I was starting to see "black spots" and my lovely Technician was NOWHERE to be found.  My alarm on my BP monitor was going off.  The other bad thing is that the Nurse was sitting right in front of me, and she ignored the alarm also. 

I had to knock over my cup of ice on the floor with what little strength I had left to get their attention.  Then the nurse looked at me and said "hey, don't do that".  Then I passed out. 

I should have died, that would have taught them a lesson (sorry, bad joke!)

One reason of many why I chose to do home hemo.  I am in control, do not have to rely on anyone. No trust issues... And I dialyze on my own time.... Not to mention more dialysis = better results all around....
 I do realize that not all are able to perform home dialysis for one reason or another, but for those that can.... please look into it if you are having issues with in-center...  We all have a choice....   We all should advocate for ourselves for the best treatment available.
