MMJ - Doe you think it helps???

Any of you out there using MMJ? I happen to live in one of the States where it's acceptable. Doctor has just prescribed for lack of appetite, nausea. mental state. Just not sure I want to be a stoner. Guess doesn't matter. Real life is pretty much over. Just the declining years now...

Well, dont know what that is, but i do know that life as you knew it may be a gonner, but this new 'stage' of life (I HATED when my mom used to call parts of life 'just a stage'
) just may turn out better than ya think
I chuckled at the "stoner" part of your post. That was one of the words i also used to use.. Never was one, but bout everyone else was..lol BUT back to you !! if it makes a feel better, and doesnt hurt ya, ya may think about it.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,,,,, lol, i just got what MMJ is. It's not a pill at all is it??? Hum, dont know if i shoud deleat my whole post or just continue here.... guess im continuing.. well, i tell ya, i've heard of it working, and it's way better for you (i think) than another pill. You will probably get some pro's and cons comming up. Ought to be interesting. All the best to you. Hope you find something to lift your spirits. Life is tough, life on D is tougher, and living with a loved one on D, well it's right up there with the top of the 'tuffs' as well. I wish you peace and comfort.

Please disabuse yourself of the whole 'stoner' stereotype, because that's exactly what it is. Andy and I were
DAILY
smokers for
YEARS
- though not anymore - and yet somehow during that time we both held down full-time jobs (and I with several part-time gigs on top of the full-time one), travelled all over the country as full-time RVers, bought a boat and taught ourselves to sail, hiked, camped and I danced about 20 hours a week.
Not exactly Cheech and Chong, eh?
Now, to answer your question: yes, it should definitely improve all three. From what I understand, the MMJ dispensaries have different strains for different things. We didn't get ours from a dispensary yet we got all the benefits. If you're not sure what to expect I can tell you that in my experience marijuana - like psychedelics - tends to expand and intensify whatever underlying character traits are already in place. It'll definitely make you hungry, so have lots of renal-friendly finger foods on hand. You'll need them!
You might also want to consider getting yourself a vaporizer; it's much easier on the lungs as there is no smoke to be inhaled. A good one can be a little pricey. I always preferred a pipe, myself, though I used to have a small bong as well; the water cools and condenses the smoke but you've got to be careful not to take too big a hit or you'll end up with a coughing fit when the smoke hits your lungs and expands again!
Good luck and happy toking! You may just find that life isn't over, after all.

You do not have to smoke it. Dispensaries carry a wide variety of edibles. If the ones in your area do not it is easy to look up how to make cannibutter. Then you can bake whatever you want with it. Just make sure it is not accessible to children.

And don't they have some sort of diffuser/burner kinda thing so you don't have to suck it straight down? I don't have the terminology.

That would be the vaporizer that DD talked about.

If not in pill form then go with the butter...recipes on the internet... and then store in fridge or freezer then use in baking as YLG suggested. Vaporizer is easiest on body, especially throat and lungs...I wouldn't smoke it personally because of protecting these...altho of course it all depends on how much one would do in a day. Water pipe will definitely cool it down. The smoke is pretty harsh though and there is some risk of a mold that can be problematic for transplants. The appetite issue must also be gauged carefully...if you're not eating well, then the munchies are a bonus. Post transplant weight gain from meds would make the MMJ appetite stimulation too much to bear for some. Will definitely assist with nausea. It can also have the effect of inducing a certain amount of lethargy (DD, Andy and others notwithstanding haha) so try to get some exercise in before chilling out AND above all keep this all under your hat if you're any way involved with transplant teams. One more thing, some people find it a mild aphrodisiac (assuming that illness hasn't interfered heavily in this area) or at least an enhancement for many physical sensations or appetites.
Good luck and fear not the stoner label...MMJ is pretty mild considering some of the big pharmaceutical guns we ESRD patients must ingest. You don't have to be constantly stoned or anything. Only you can gauge if it helps you and if it doesn't, don't do it. If it does, feel better and enjoy whatever you can, whenever you can.
