I wanted to relate a story to the community that I bet each one of you can relate to. A year and a half ago, as a PD patient I developed a peritoneal infection and because I was so lucky to have it fall on a sunday, my clinic was closed and I had to go the hospital. What should have taken an hour or two to administer the antibiotic took 9 hours. I was in pain and nobody at the hospital knew how to treat a PD patient. My nephrologist at the time said that there was a dehumaization that goes on in these emergency rooms. This got me enraged and I called on a state agency to investigate. Nine months later and a lot of aggravation later, the final result was sent to me and the hospital got a slap on the wrist. The state of CT knew I was mad and much to my surprise, they reopened the case and made unannounced visits to the hospital for the last year and lo and behold yesterday I received in the mail a 50+ page document from the state with a bastion of improprieties that the hospital was conducting. In other words, by being persistent, I made the state open Pandora"s Box and the rat came out of its hole. My advocate wants me to make this a local story but I have begun the process of turning this into a national one. So, between the lawsuit I have going now with my second clinic I was at and now this which took place with my first clinic, I do not think I will be getting invited to any cookouts from the medical world. The bottom line is I have had enough of the corruption and I am a seeker for TRUTH and JUSTICE. Never give up!!!

That is friggin awesome.  When I got peritonitis, the hospital refused to listen to me.  I knew exactly what the problem was, but they kept dismissing me, trying to tell me that I had anything else but peritonitis.  I went 3 days, being told I had gallstones, before the testing came back saying I was right, and in that time, I could have been receiving antibiotics to fight the infection, but I wasn't.  I think that may have been a contributing factor as to why I'm on hemo now.  That, and one nurse's negligence, and another going with odds (I had a clear bag, so she didn't test it, but I was still infected).
