Life's a bitch and then you go on dialysis!

« on: March 28, 2008, 08:15:57 AM »

Has anyone on IHD ever been prescribed this sleeping tablet? I've seen my GP today because the sleeping tablet which I  take (Zopiclone) is no longer effective. Tonight wil be my first night with Temazepam. I've read the attached leaflet and it does seem to be a very stong medication. Anyone had any problems with it?

Hi Ken ..dont worry ! I have been on Temazepam for months and its not that good ..lol  Whats the dosage? I can take 10 or 20 mg but have only taken 10 so far. I must say at first it worked quite well , nothing really drastic , just able to get off to sleep easier , i took it about an hour before bedtime to give it chance to start working. Sadly i have been taking it for about 6 months now and its effectiveness is not so good, i should probably increase it now , but its not a road i really want to go down. Anything else you want to know about it , just give me a shout! :thumbup;

Hi Kickstart it's 10 mlg and the doc said take half a tablet. Does it make you drowsy the next day? I guess I'll soon find out tomorrow.

I took the 10 mg for a while. It was OK at getting me to sleep, but I would wake up about 3 a.m. and have trouble going back to sleep. Was hesitant to go up to 20 mg. But I didn't feel drowsy the next day. I guess everyone is a little different.

I took half a tablet last night and boy did I sleep. But not straight away. I took it about half an hour before I went to bed. At first in bed (11.30pm) I felt relaxed as I always do when I first lie down and then the restlessness started as usual and so I started tossing and turning for a little while thinking well this drug is a waste of time,then, suddenly I started to relax again and thats all I remember until I awoke at about 4.00 am. Went to the bathroom, got back in bed and went straight off to sleep till about 9.30 am. I'm glad to say it's not left me hung over.

Hey Ken is the new pill still working well for you?
I have been taking Trazadone for years and years, long before Renal failure.  It has not been working lately. I see a dr. tomorrow and am going to ask for something else.

This is the drug that kept me sane while on nocturnal dialysis. As my nocturnal schedule was one day next day off, I only took it every alternate night and it worked wonders for me for over 2 years. I give it the  :thumbup;  ;D
