Hello Nancy.
I'm new around here too, but I've already found many, many fine discussions about Dialysis and kidneys. Lots of things I've wondered about I've found answers to. You will, too I'm sure.
Plus, there are many many very fine people around here, caring and thoughtful.

Hello Nancy and Welcome to IHD! I know your head is probably spinning right now with so many questions! This is new to you and you are probably feeling somewhat overwhelmed. First of all, you have been hit with a ton of bricks! Wondering what, why and how!!!
You are not alone in this! This site is full of wonderful people who have gone through exactly what you are going through. They have been where you are going now! Just take your time to educate yourself about this disease! There is so much you will learn about it and you'll think you can't learn anymore, but Nancy, YOU CAN & YOU WILL!
Not to be ugly, but if you want to live, you are going to have to learn! So I know you will do what is necessary to make the changes needed to maintain your health.
When I think back to when my dear husband was diagnosed in 2004, I was in denial and so was he. We had no clue about kidney failure, but we did know that it was a very serious thing to have. Thank the Lord, we had a great family doctor who referred us to a fantastic Nephorologist and a team that helped us through the process! This will not be any picnic for you or your family members, but with Love & Commitment, you all will get through this. I liken it to a new job! At first you have all this stuff you have to learn and do, but after doing it over & over again, it comes natural, and you perfect it!
Nancy, you are gonna get through this fine! Just come to this site often. You will find out more about yourself and your disease when you are here! Know that IHD is here for you 24/7.
Lifting you up now,
lmunchkin

Hi Nancy, you are doing great so far. Joining this site is the best next step you could have done. I hope your kidneys give you some time before having to start dialysis. We will be here for you.

What you should expect is better health through good dialysis treatments! To get that, you will need to become your own best advocate, and we can help you do that. I'm glad you found us; I think we can be of help to you! There are a lot of people here who know exactly how you are feeling and who are only too glad to share their profound wisdom.
