Hi there - my hubby also has IGA and is on PD.  He basically takes a sample from each of his bags (manual) from a 24 hour period.  When he still made urine he took that in too.  I think they also take blood when he goes in but I'm not sure it's related.  They should give you containers for each bag (i.e., if you do four manual bags you'll get 4 containers)  I forgot how it works for overnight.  He also mixes the bag up before he takes the sample.

As LostWife, says. We are on an over night machine and use 2 cycler drainage sets, so the nurse came and took samples from each of them. She also took readings from the machine. Also he had to do a 24 hour pee sample and she took bloods. When he was doing manual she took a sample from all 4 bags. It is quite funny she did the the test last week and it came back that he was border line dialysis and has had to do a tea time manual as well. So that is over night machine and a manual at tea time.

It is a blood test.

They draw blood at the start/before dialysis and after.

They do calculations and they will tell you the result. It measures how good your dialysis treatment is

KtV:
V - volume of your fluid
t - time on D
K - filter, uremia before and after treatment

At my unit goal is 1,4.
