Info I just found out that some might know and others may not.

This information is specifically for people on PD using Fresenius.

When I started my PD, I was admitted into a licensed Fresenius clinic. Everything I ordered was usually taken care of by Medicare or my insurance. When I needed to travel, I usually had a machine and supplies shipped to where I was going without charge. Fresenius would just pick up the tab.

My neph just opened up his own private clinic. I decided to stay with him because I'm comfortable with him and been with him since day 1. What I didn't know was since it's not a licensed Fresenius clinic, travel arrangements must be paid by the clinic, IF THEY SO DESIRE.

I recently made and paid travel arrangements to fly to Florida next month. Then I call Fresenius to order my machine and supplies shipped to the hotel. Fresenius doesn't mention anything about payment whatsoever. They just tell me that everything will be waiting for you when you arrive. Then I get a call from my PD nurse 10 minutes later telling me she just got off the phone with Fresenius and told her of my travel plans. Then asked if I could pack my machine because the clinic has to pay and I don't think the doctor will be willing to pay for it. ($350)

So basically, if your clinic is not a Fresenius clinic, check with your nurse or doctor to see if they are willing to pay for it BEFORE you make your travel plans. I know alot of you pack your own machines, but sometimes it's nice to not have to hassle with it along your trip. I have a suitcase built specifically for my machine (Newton IQ) and a separate carrying case for the stand which it sits on, which was given to me for free. But the suitcase is pretty heavy with the machine in it and it would be 2 less suitcases having to worry about, so I kinda liked the option of having it sent to my destination, but not anymore---unless I leave my doctor and go back to the Fresenius clinic.

Some of you may chime and in and suggest I get the Fresenius Liberty of change to Baxter Home Choice because they are only 1 machine - one suitcase to carry. I thought about that, but I like the fact that I don't have to worry about trying to find a place to put the machine on like a table, chair or ironing board. Since it comes with it's own stand, I don't worry about "where can I put it?"
