Hello everyone, my name is Shona, i am 45yrs old..diagnosed in 2003 with ASPKD (autosomal polycystic kidney disease)..i had a peritoneal catheter inserted in early 2007 as i was hoping to do home dx so i could stay in employment..anyways, i ended up with peritonitis and had to have the catheter removed, that ended that option...i had a permcath for a while as i had a fistula formed, the 1st fistula never worked from the day and hour i came out of surgery..The 2nd fistula is working great after a few hiccups..i currently do dx 3x weekly in the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline Scotland..i have no children (thats another story lol)..i am looking forward to getting to know every one on here...sometimes you just need to vent and talk to people that know exactly what you are going through... i hope i haven't rambled on and bored you all lol...i love to talk to people  so....what's keepin ya x

I was half way through your intro and lost it  - I'm not great at using the net on my phone. But I found it again. It seems so often that dialysis has lots of hurdles. Welcome. Wishing that you find the same sense of belonging and support that IHD has brought to me.

You came to the right place! I vent all the time. We're aloud to here. At home we'd be "nagging" lol. My husband is on D almost 4 years now as a result of untreated diabetes and mostly severe hypertensive high blood pressure left untreated. It's hard on the caregiver too. Sometimes I thinkwe know almost as much as the dialysis patient does lol. There always pleanty to learn though.
