I was diagnosed with Wegeners Disease and Hep C. After about six months I was taken off the meds for treating the Wegeners because another doctor thought the symptoms were do to just the kidney failure and that dialysis cleared up most of the effects. One of the doctors believe the Wegeners is in remission and that if I got a transplant the immune suppressant meds could possibly elevate the disease again. Has anyone heard or have had problems with other disease being elevated by taking the immune suppressant drugs? I know of some ill effects from taking them but need to know more on side effects with other diseases.

LarryG, I am not familiar with that disease, but may have been mentioned on here before and just an't remember. The best thing to do is to ask a transplant center or 2 about this to see what their opions are. However with immonosuppressants, other problems can develop such as osteoporosis, high blood sugar, mood swings, puffyness, Cholerterol problms, bp problems, and so forth. There are different meds that doctors can use to best suit a person. Most of us on here don't use the same med or dosage of an immunosuppreasant that we dod share.

You can always write a trasplant clinic also for their opinion if you are not located by one, or that there is only one in your area and want a second opinion.

Good Luck
