Going dry during the day

Hi All

I've been on Pd now for about 6 months. Things are going well. Good energy level. Often times I work 12-14 hour days. So that's a good sign.
Does anyone know what are the disadvantages of leaving the catheter dry during the day?

Im dry during the day.  I work full time and lift heavy things at times.  I asked to be dry Neph said OK we just have to follow your numbers and see how you do dry.  Also if full during the day and lifting you have a better chance of getting a hernia.

Sincerely curious, here.  How do you work 12-14 hr days when on PD? I see so many people on here talk about taking 8-10-12 hours to do the cycler, and I think holy smokes!  There is no way I could do that!  How do you work those days and do PD in a time span of 24 hrs? Or, do you do manual exchanges?

I have residual kidney function that helps. In fact I survived 3 weeks without dialysis when I had catheter trouble. But I was tired.
I do 7 L / day that includes 1 manual exchange when I get home. Seems to work for me. For example, I've been traveling on business for the past four weeks so M thru F I only do the machine at nights and skip the manual exchanges just because I can't do them while traveling.
I feel great. So then when I get home on weekends I go back to the normal routine or even do a few more manual exchanges during the weekend.

I don't think there are any disadvantages to the "catheter" by going dry all day.  You just don't get as much dialysis.   I go dry because I have a hernia.  I am actually happy I don't have to do manuels during the day.  My KTV is 2.2 and could be better, but quality of life is important also.
