My Dr.'s office has sent over my records and confirmed that I am O+ blood type and now the tx coordinator said she is sending me out a swab kit.  Hmmmm.....what all can they tell by oral swabs?  I thought the next step would be blood draws.  My paperwork of my medical history and why I want to donate all seemed to cut the mustard, too, so now I just have to hope everything else goes well.

I'm sure they will let you know what they need and when they'll need it!

I honestly don't know what they can determine from an oral swab.  That's a new one on me.  Now I'm curious.

Yes, do keep us informed. I did not have to do a swab test, but there are new things happening in science all the time.

I had to do oral swabs when I registered as a donor for Be The Match to be put on the bone marrow donor list so maybe the can tell a lot more than we realize.  The tx coordinator said to call her 10 days after I send it back and she'll be able to tell me the results.  I'll let you know what I find out.  :)
