Ok we have all heard about the paired donation program out there ....   chains of people who are swapping kidneys....  I have a donor  who has a differnent blood type than me and he  wants to donate to me and if necessary participate in a swap...   My transplant center is not a part of the Alliance Paired program... but there is another transplant center that is a part of the paired program... and has done a few.....  I am wondering how hard it is to transfer to another transplant clinic...  has anyone here done it...   I just completed my testing and I am going on my second year on the waiting list...  My insurance company says that they are contracted with my current center and that is where everyone goes.....  They  said they may be able to make a exception but it would be up to my doctor..  I know my doctor will refer me... ..   Hard to deal with knowing that I have a very healthy donor but wrong blood type.....  so close yet so far.....   I am trying not to get my hopes up..... but they are.....has anyone changed transplant center.....

I had no problem when I transferred centers tyefly. Additional test maybe needed to meet the criteria though. I hd to because I wanted a kidney and pancreas transplant whereas my first center only did kidney transplants. You can always call te oter center and ask and I'm sure they will tell you what needs to be done since you also want to participate in the paired donation swap.
Good Luck Tyefly.
