Crusty exit site

Hello,
It has been a week since my pd catheter surgery. I have noticed a yellow crusty discharge around my exit site. Is this normal? I have no pain, just the dry crust.

Get it checked out by your nurse to be on the safe side.

The crust usually takes longer than one week to get off (like 3 to 5 weeks). I agree with Billybag that when in doubt, call the nurse.

Yes its common , its like a bit of bodily fluid leaking from around the exit site. Regular cleaning tends to remove the build up , then as the exit site heals you should find it pretty much stops.

G'day Denise. I had a case of the crusties - my exit site didn't seem to want to heal and about 5 weeks in the nurse took a swab and I ended up on antibiotics which cleared it up. This was about 2 weeks into PD. It's been excellent ever since. Definitely have it checked.
