Life's a bitch and then you go on dialysis!

« on: January 07, 2010, 06:29:30 PM »

26 nurses, and nursing assistants including 3 voluntry workers in my Dialysis unit have won big on the British National Lottery.
£2.6 milion to be exact equaling £100,000 each. = $ 168,000 USA = $200.000 Canada. They are all in a lottery sindicate so this equates to an equal share of the Jackpot " £ 2.6 MILLION!  :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;

Couldn't have happened to a nicer buch of people, I am so overjoyed for them all. One of the voluteer workers bless her when she heard the news mistakenly thought that the figure of £100.000 was the total to be shared then on monday morning 'No Irene that is your share all 100 grand of it!! She had to sit down!  :clap; :clap; :clap; :clap;

You're very lucky Ken S. £100k is not quite enough for them all to resign en masse.

Good for them and I wonder about the same question...

Kristina and Jbeany I thought that too but most of them are fairly young to middle age with mortgages so I think they'll stay. :pray;

I think it's great that a bunch of hard workers won and got to share. Sometimes here you get one person winning like $50 mil or something and that seems obscene... and chances are someone unused to managing money getting SO MUCH could actually be more harmful to them long term. Better that a bunch of co-workers get to share in a prize and get some money each.

Absolutely Fabulous.! Couldn't be happier about the lottery... well, unless it were the people at my center.

Ken do you mind sharing exactly where this unit is? I told some of my unit nurses about the big win and one of them said she has friends working in the UK and she was most interested in what unit it was that had the big win?

My nurses were talking about winning the lottery the other day. Since I tend to have my ipod with my ear buds in, I think sometimes they don't realize that I can hear them talking. *L*

One of the nurses is newly married, and she said that she would love it if her mortgage was paid off, so that she didn't have that worry, and the majority of her paycheck would then be hers for whatever she wanted.

The girls that my mom works with go in every week.  They've won a bit, but not more than $15-20 and when they win, they tend to put it back in the pot for more tickets.  There's 6 of them, so if they were to win a big one, it could be pretty nice once it was split between them.
