Ok     I have been experiencing a sharp pain in my foot.....  it on the bottom of the foot and its right in the middle closer to the toes..... but not the toes......  it a stabbing pain.....  I keep looking at it but I dont see anything wrong....no skin problems.....   and the pain seems to be getting worst  more frequent..... does not hurt to walk.....  just when I am sitting I get these really bad pains......   the area is like the size of a    50 cent piece.....   Are these the first signs of loosing my foot.....  is this diabetes stuff.....  I am diabetic....but have only been for a few months...ok maybe a year now......

My initial thought was bone spur, but that went out the door when it only hurts when you sit. So my advice is to see your doctor. If the area is warm, that is a sign of an infection going on.
Have you stubbed your foot or kicked something? The thought there is a bone chip. How are your nerves in your foot, as in feeling touch, hot and cold, and pin procks? Blood Sugars ok also?
Picking at straws, so hopefully you see your doctor and he/she will take an x-ray, ct-scan to determine problem

tyefly, could it be a callous, is it painful to touch, hard skin, just having a stab in the dark. Talk to your nurse or Doc.

Oh gee yes,  see your Doctor. A serious complication in the feet from having diabetes can be Nueropathy. Wounds, cuts and ulcers can be a serious matter under circumstances. But it could be (hmmm...) Gout? Gout is a build up of Ureic acid which cause these crystal "things" (lol) to develop into sharp edges which can dig into the tissue. Gout usually causes inflammation around the joints especially in the toe area (particularly in the big toe) but can occur else where. Redness & inflammation are an indicator. That being said lol, it could be just about anything! lol Maybe even just a tootsie boo boo. I hope it feels better soon and if it gets worse at anytime, see your doctor right away.

Diabetics often suffer from neuropathy of the lower limbs. That often results in sharp pains in various parts of the feet.

LOL   that's  not   gout.  Gout  is  excrutiating  constant  pain.  even the  touch  of  a  bed  sheet  hurts.   I  lived  with  it  for  over  5 weeks  at  one  time.   Podiatrist  wanted  to  do  surgery  because  that  would alliviate t he  pain.  I  then  happen to  go  see  my  PCP  and  she  saw  it  and  right away  said  "that's  gout, let's  do a  uric  acid blood test ,  just  to  make  sure"  Sure  enough  uric  acid  was  over  the  roof.   I w as   given  colchicine  and  allopurinol  and  that  was  the  end  of  gout  of  me.
