First day of school 08'

« on: August 13, 2010, 08:57:34 PM »

Hey guys,

for those of you who know me i've been mia for a while with the tx issues i was going through. Well hopefully they are all sorted now. Had 4th op on 7th of july (fourth since january), they took the kidney out, transplanted the blocked ilac artery with more cadaveric arteries, plastied the kidney artery (blockage too high up to transplant new arteries) the cut the ureter of my right kidney (native one) and connected it to the transplant. They also did a bit of cosmetic work and fixed up my horrific scar line (after the wound was opened for 3 months post tx surgery it left a grose red scar kind of like , dunno, too grose to describe). the proffessor cut it away and made my scar look so pretty i'll be able to wear a bikini again (yay!).

So waiting for my function to drop back down, i've had 3 ct scans with dye now on her so my creat is a bit up from pre surgery, The idc (urinary cath) was in for almost 5 weeks so i've had 2 bad uti's (god never had one in my life, they are horrible) was re-admitted for the first one and the 2nd is still battling away (down to 2 cellcept to combat my falling white cells).

But i'm feeling great, joined the gym today to start exercising again.

The op itself took 9 hours and i had 2 units of blood during op and 2 more afterwards. i've counted now i have blood from 9 different people and bits from 2 beautiful wonderful deceased people who were so kind and generous to give me their gifts. i feel a bit like frankensteins monster, but in a good way.... hey maybe i should be the $6mil woman now?

anyway all is good and i'm glad to be home. hopefully that is the last surgery and i can get on with it.

love jennyc

Personally, I'm only about a half a million dollar woman - at least so far!

Massively jealous that they already fixed your scar.  My giant "divot" from my complications isn't scheduled to be fixed for at least 6 more months.  Ah, well, I never wore a bikini before, so I don't plan to start now anyhow!

So glad you are doing so well!

When I was a teenager, my boyfriend jokingly called me the bionic woman.. it stuck with me.. Some days, I feel like someone's old jalopy.. always looking for spare parts... *L*

I hope everything smooths out for you soon!!!

:cuddle; That's quite an ordeal. Just goes to show these transplants are not always easy - but I hope in the long run you're doing fine and can get on with your life!

Me too! hopefully end of it! But it isn't the kidney's fault. I had to change her name to Lucy (as in I Love Lucy) cause she is so sweet and strong. I did join the Gym on friday (all ladies gym, lovely place no sweaty men hogging all the weights) and i'm feeling heaps better so it's all good! Thanks for the well wishes and kind words.
