My sister was approved

Yes, indeed, my sister was approved for kidney donation by our transplant hospital. It took 8 months of testing, but the hospital assures me they are extremely careful and very confident she is perfectly healthy for donation to me. I have mentioned before I have PRA's of 96% and O pos blood so I'm hard to match. My oldest sister is an 11 point HLA match and I have zero antibodies against her tissue. This can occur in 25% of cases with full siblings and the plan is to have a pre-emptive transplant ( I am 14% GFR). I am extremely lucky and I'm perfectly at ease with my transplant hospital's abilities. I can't help but feel a little mixed up about my feelings of taking a kidney from my sister, though.
When I got the news, I bought a beautiful lavender rose bush called "sweetness" with a lovely large green ceramic pot for my sister. The rose is very fragrant. I set it in her front yard while she was away along with a card of appreciation explaining my heartfelt sentiments. She was so surprised and pleased to receive the rose bush.

How wonderful!!! What fantastic news! Yes, you are extremely lucky, and why not!? What's to feel guilty about when you finally have a stroke of good luck!?
We often read about the mixed feelings that come with accepting a kidney from a living donor. I would so love the opportunity to literally save someone's life, and you are giving your sister the opportunity to do just that. You will come away with the chance to live a normal, healthy life, and she will come away with the knowledge that she gave of herself in every possible way. I think she will feel grateful that she is able to come to your rescue!
I'm so very pleased for you!

Sunny, we have been walking this path together for quite some time. I am thrilled for you. I know you have struggled with the donor process but now---it is going to happen.
I can't wait to hear the schedule of events. Any idea of a time frame? You must be excited, stunned, a little scared but so happy. This will change so much for you. So very happy for you.

Thank you for your well wishes.
I am hoping for sometime in the Fall. I passed all my physical exams, including the infamous heart test, and now it's up to my sister to pick a date that works with her schedule. I'll keep you posted.
