So here's a totally random funny story. My familly and I went to an Italian restaurant the day before my kidney transplant (so EVERYONE was there- we had like 12 people at our table). I felt sick at the time and I forgot my video camera I bring everywhere (too bad- could have won $10000 on AFV) Anyway, we're ordering and my dad wanted to order something off the menu that was written in Italian ("capellini pomodoro" or something like that). He made a really big deal about saying it right. The good news is the waitress said he said it perfectly. He was very happy, but unfortunately, he ruined it for himself when he shouted after his perfect pronuctiation "YES! I SHOULD MOVE TO FRANCE!"

We tried not to laugh at him because he was kind of embarrssed when everyone was trying not to laugh and he didn't understand why- when my mom reminded him we were at an Italian restaurant, even he said I should have brought my camera!

Just had to share that!

I moved from Chicago to my parents house last year. I was taking a nap one day when I heard a baby crying. I woke up  and went to the front door to see if anybody was there. I thought maybe I didn't hear them knock, so I opened the door and nobody was there. I heard the baby crying again, I went to the back door anf nobody was there. Scratching my head I was wondering where is that crying coming from. I put my shoes on and went outside to follow the crying. I heard the crying in the shed. I was wondering why would there be crying in there. I opened the door and was surprised by a baby goat. I later found out that my dad brought the kid home from the ranch because the mother died during birth. We spent several weeks bottle feeding the goat.

I have a funny dad moment to add :)
One night, when I was 16, I had noticed my medicine had my fathers name on it, we still do not know why. It was late at night my dad had went to bed early, so I was a bit worried that maybe hed taken my pills by accident since it had his name on it.. I woke him and asked if hed taken my meds. His half asleep reply.... "Is that what you take to become an Ostridge?"
We still bring it up from time to time....  ;D He denies it, then says He vaguely remembers watching Animal Plant or something before bed. ROFL

I am very very focussed at the moment, day and night I'm at the computer mumbling. Yesterday I took a break for lunch, and was sitting with two other students, chatting.  I had a pot of ginger tea I'd made earlier.  When I finished eating I thought I'd pour a cup of tea.  I was very serious and made some serious and important remark to the other students, as I poured myself a cuppa.  Out came only water!  My friend sitting opposite started laughing at the look on my face.  I'd put the hot water in the pot but forgotten to add the teabag.  I thought o well blow it, I'll just drink the water anyway.  It was cold!  My other friend began laughing and pointed out that she saw me put the hot water in the teapot that morning at 9am.  It was now 1pm.  mmm.

Cattitude

My funny for the day -

I have a screened in, multi-level cat-sized gazebo that has a ramp to the living room window here at my current home.  The wire screen consists of rather large 3 inch wide by 4 inch tall rectangles.  Little birds like sparrows and chickadees frequently pop through the holes and flutter around on the platforms, diving back out the wire when my cat sees them and charges down the ramp at them.  She's tiny and declawed, so she has never caught one, but it certainly gets her excited.

My new life with new kidney and pancreas has inspired a new personal theme song - Blackbird, by the Beatles.  I've even ordered a lovely art print by SuZanna Anna with "Take these broken wings and learn to fly" in bold graphics for my new apartment.  I've now got several pieces of blackbird inspired art to go in my new living room.

Today, as I sat in my living room amid my packing boxes, chatting with a friend, Fizzy cat twitched, dived out the window and ran down the ramp.  We kept talking inside, not thinking anything of it, as it happens pretty frequently.  Then my friend turned, glanced out the window, and started to screech, "She's got a bird!"   Yup, here she comes up the ramp, with a struggling bird in her mouth.  The darn bird is HUGE.  She's actually caught a blackbird!  It must have wedged itself through the wire, and then panicked too much to get back out the same way when she charged at it.

Thankfully, I had the presence of mind to slam the window shut before she could get back inside with it.  She opened her mouth to cuss me out for closing the window, and the bird managed to get to the edge of the ramp and wedge itself out of reach.  I went outside and got it loose, then came back in and reopened the window.  Wow, was that one ticked off kitty!

Wonder if she was mad that I let loose her attempt to add one more blackbird to my decorating scheme?

And would she have tried to put it in a packing box if I'd let her back inside with it?   ;D
