DaVita shares rise after second-quarter results

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of DaVita Inc. /quotes/comstock/13*!dva/quotes/nls/dva (DVA 61.62, +3.73, +6.44%) rose 6.9% to $61.89 after the dialysis services company said its second-quarter profit rose. DaVita posted net income of $107.9 million, or $1.04 a share, from $105.8 million, or $1.02 a share, in the year-ago quarter. Revenue increased to $1.59 billion from $1.52 billion last year.
