I feel sick about it. My brother has prostate cancer and I found out over the weekend that he stopped taking his hormone pills several months ago. My SIL found a full bottle with a December 2009 date on them. I have to honor his decision, but I don't have to like it.

No you don't have to like it, but you should support him whatever he deciedes. How can we know how much they are suffering & the quality of their lives. Sorry you are in that situation. :grouphug;

Sorry to hear of this Deanne but I remember those days for both of my parents. You and your entire family will be in my prayers.

Yes, that truly is sad. I can understand tho, some how, when you see friends go thru a fight with cancer, you wonder where they get the strength, and then they are sick all the time, and in pain, and all the other nasty side effects of meds. I always say if I ever get cancer, I would not fight it, but the urge to live is strong. I am in hope he has thought this thru. You dont have to like it, no, but you do have to accept his decision.

I'm guessing he never told anyone because he doesn't want everyone on his back about it. I can understand that. I hope he's thought it through, too. I don't know if I'm supposed to know about this yet, but after I think about it a while, I'll probably send him an email message to tell him I know about it and that I respect his choices.

I have a lot of respect for people's wishes regarding their health treatments.
He likely has some very good reasons to not want to continue with the meds prescribed, least of which are the side effects.
All we can do is try to sympathize with their point of view and continue to stay in touch to be supportive. I am sorry about your brother.
