Chickenlittle and Maria

« on: June 29, 2010, 08:25:04 PM »

Hello,  everyone. Found out my kidneys were going bad while recovering in the hospital from a infected toe in November '99. Had a fistula put in January '00  Started dialysis in august '01. Lived in Chicago most of my life. Moved to southwest Texas in July '08. Raising Rhodie Island reds, Leghorns, Rocks and some Jungle Fowl. Expensive hobby but loved my hen's fresh eggs! :grouphug;

Welcome to our community!  So glad that you decided to join us.  This is the place for information and support for all those facing the renal challenge.
I am looking forward to you posting picts of your poultry.  I have no idea what a Jungle Fowl is.  [maybe I need to google it, right?]
Please keep reading and keep posting, so we can know how you are doing.

Thank you for introducing yourself.  I didn't notice you hadn't.  You fit right in so well.   :waving;

Nothing better than fresh eggs.  Is it true it is easier to peal older boiled eggs?

Iam not sure on the peeling of eggs. Answering Bajanne's question the Jungle Fowl breed or breeds comes from Southeast Asia and are the original breed where all others come from. They are mainly used for cock fighting. I got my chickens from a friend of the family who was moving. I couldn't see my cocks in that situation so yes they are retired.

And, yes, Rerun - older eggs make better hard boiled eggs.  Fresh ones don't peel easily, and you lose half the white when it sticks to the shell.
