Hope this is in the Right Topic Area.
Except for Dialysis, My Husband, has only been out of the House, Five Times, all Winter. We Decided, to Drive over to Myrtle Beach, to stay for a short Visit, with His Brother, in a Condo. Our Social Worker, at Dialysis, called a Clinic, in SC, for Him and they said, they would have Room, for Him. We were going to go Next Week. The Clinic, in SC, asked, our Clinic, to Fax, over all His Med Sheets. Our Social Worker, called us, this Morning and told us that the SC Clinic, will not Accept, Him now, because, He has not had a Hepatitis Test, within, the last Six Months and State Law, requires it there. We have, never heard, of anything, like this before. We have been to Clinics, in other States and no Problems. He just had a Hepatitis Shot, about Six Months Ago. Our Clinic, offered, to do the Test, for Him, but He Declined. He said, He just didn't want another Test and to have to wait for Results. He seems, very Disappointed. Has anyone else, ever run into any thing like this?

Mizar, That is a bummer, I know my husband has to have regular Hepatitis tests but they come with in  his normal bloods, I have never heard of different states asking for it.

Yes, I travel a lot and most clinics ask for your medical history to see what tests have been done.  Hepatitis shots are one of the most important test a lot of clinics in US look for.  It is very easy for other patients and staff members to catch it.  A person can cough and not cover his or her mouth and someone can catch it. Unfortunately some patients do not cover their mouth.   So in order for the clinic to be safe, they recommend all patients take this test.  Tell your husband if he wants to continued to travel to other states and get dialyzed, he has to get that shot.   Tests are part of our journey in this life of dialysis.   :banghead;

Dailysis patient for since 1999 and still kicking it strong.  I was called for a transplant but could not get it due to damage veins from extremely high blood pressure.  Have it under control now, on NxStage System but will receive dailysis for the rest of my life.  Does life sucks because of this.  ABOLUTELY NOT!  Life is what you make it good, bad, sick, or healthy.  Praise God I'm still functioning as a normal person just have to take extra steps.

I would really hate to see him lose the opportunity to travel just because of one simple test, especially since he has had the shot already.  My concern is that it seems that your husband is letting himself become housebound, and I'm not sure that's so good for his psychological health.  A change of scenery might do him the world of good; it seems like he is giving up too easily.  I'm sorry he is disappointed, but do you think he might be talked into taking the test?

Sharon went through the series of shots for it quite a while ago, now it is a routine part of her monthly blood work to test for it, thankfully it always come back as negative for the antigen. Is your clinic just saving a buck by not testing for it  on a routine basis?
