Today I got a verbal worning for bad performance. I know it's the dialysis doing it. However they won't approve me for disability do to dialysis complications. They said also my labs aren't bad enough for disability approval as well.
My work is the only income/health insurance I have right now while my medicare/social security is still in the approval process so losing my job would be hard on me. They said they can be leeniet with my attendence but not my performence. I try so hard to go to work even after a rough treatment and this is what I get? I'd love to see one of them end up in the chair 3 times a week then maybe they'll understand.
Any thoughts or ideas on what to do to keep my job from firing/warning me?

I am a "housewife."  I struggle with the mundane crap like the laundry and the gardening and that sort of stuff that's boring but physically tough when you're not well.  I don't have a boss to please, which is a godsend, so I just can't imagine what it must be like to be on dialysis and have to go out to work every day.

I know your employer can't understand what you are going through, but maybe s/he can give you specific ideas on how you can improve your performance given your ill health.  What kind of work do you do?

I may be wrong, but I understood that as soon as you begin dialysis you qualify for disability. Have you contacted your local Social Security office and asked? You can also apply online http://www.socialsecurity.gov/applyfordisability/ -
from: http://www.cahealthadvocates.org/_pdf/facts/I-002-CHAFactSheet.pdf
"ESRD and Disability Benefits
Remember, if you are unable to work because of
ESRD, or if you have other disabilities, you can
file for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
to get monthly income benefits."

and as far as your employer is concerned - here is more information http://www.kidney.org/atoz/content/employersguide.cfm

What did you get written up for?
Can what you got written up for be directly attributed to renal disease?
For example, when I still tried teaching 4th grade with a class of 30 students, I would get so tired I could no longer pace the classroom to watch the kids (part of class management), and the Principal would catch me stitting on my duff on a stool. She would tell me I needed to walk around more and keep an eye on students as I taught, and I told her it was becoming harder for me due to tiredness from kidney disease. She would write it up in her evaluation of me, in an otherwise steller evaluation. I used this for part of my argument as to why I wanted to go out on disability. In other words, maybe what you are being written up for can be used to help you in your disability claim where applicable. I wish you luck. It's not fun getting "warnings".

I do collecting, which basically means sitting at a pc and phone all day. I work part time and only get one break.
I got written up just for my performence overall for the last couple months. From Early feb to mid march I was fighting anemia so there's nothing I can do about that. I would have to basically lay back in my chair to feel at my best and I couldn't sit up straight for that matter. My hg is fine now, but god only knows when it's going to fall again. Also after a rough dialysis treatment I still go to work but I still struggle. Heck sometimes I lose consentration so bad I forget even what I told a customer or what I wrote on their file! My labs are fine in that catagory as well so don't know what's causing that. I also seem to have a bit more of short term memmory loss. This all leading up to poor performence.
To answer your question, yes but social security is so darn slow in ohio. I went on d in May and applied in sept. I just completed something for them the other day theat they wanted me to do so we'll see, may just have to call them to rush their butts along.

I agree with whoever said you should be able to get on social security.  When I was diagnosed I was guven a paper that was like a free ticket through the red tape It basically just stated my diagnosis and the date of diagnosis and maybe the treatment.  It was an automatic aproval.  Good luck
