On Friday I was transported from dialysis to the er because my permacath started bleeding again and they couldn't get it to stop. The er was so packed I waited for 4 hours. They finally got it to stop with a special dressing but kept me overnight just to be sure. Yesterday I was sent home but they couldn't assure  me at Mondays dialysis session that it wouldn't start up again since vascular was closed and the hospital doctors didn't know enough about the permacath to find out what was going on. So tomorrow we shal see, if it does start bleeding at least vascular will be open so they can get my regular doctor who put it in to look at it. I asked if they can hold off on my blood thinners but they said that might not work because without it my blood may clot in the machine.
They are driving me crazy because I asked them if they can send in an order to my neph to contact my dialysis center about my blood thinner and they said they would then they came back and told me they couldn't because I was not admitted under that doctor, then I asked if they could change my tegaderm dressing since it was a little bit  bloody and they said no they couldn't do that either that the dialysis center has to do that which makes me mad because now I have a dressing over it with dry blood all over it which is a good way to get an infection.
Also now they are trying to get me to stop tylenol because it is also a blood thinner and could be making my blood get thin and causing the bleeding, but they want me to go to a narcotic because it doesn't thin the blood but I don't like narcotics because they make me do funny things  and I doubt they will let me off of work because of pain because our work disability system is funny like that because I still have pain from my surgery.
So it's like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. I can hear disability tell me well you can type one handed, while I understand that is an option I refuse to do it now show me how to use a one handed keybord and then I might consider it.  I will consult with my doctors that actually know what they are doing tomorrow when everything reopens to see what they say about all of this.

I hope you get it sorted out quickly.  I always feel badly as I never seem to have had the problems that other folks complain about on this board, whether I was on hemo or PD.  Guess I was just lucky.

could  you possibly go to the store and get some gauze pads and tape and try to cover that bloody permacath? Atleast it would be covered for right now. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this.

Dont it make you want to spit. Is there any way you can just call in to your center,  for a change of dressing, our unit would do that.
