Do any of you have a regular exercise regimen?  What advice have your nephrologists given you about exercise and ESRD?

MIne told me to keep moving and to do as much as I can and want....  I walk my dogs  everyday for about 1.5 hours untill I get tired ...they never get tired...( siberian Huskies )    I also lift weights .. just 3 lbs and do a few sets with both arms every day.... I often get on my treadmill for 15 to 20 min before I sit down to do D.... and of course I do house work and gardening and all the fun stuff in life...  I like hiking but thats not everyday....

You do strength training?  What is the max you are allowed to lift?

I like the idea of exercising before D.  I need my daily walks (I try to do 3 miles a day, but this winter has been especially cold, and I don't do cold very well), and I'd want to walk before my session begins.

well I do lift those 3 lb weights to strenghten my arm muscles.....  I use to do 5 lbs all the time  but I have become a weakling after my fistula surgery last year.....    I was told by my surgeon to go ahead a lift what ever.... so when I am doing things like moving furiture or projects I dont worry ...... but I know I am not super women any more and cant lift that 75 lbs all the time..... I use to take my Honda kicker motor and take that from my pickup and place it on my boat.....   I cant do that anymore....oh well    I still have fun....

Lifting even three lbs slowly and regularly is soooo much better than nothing, so good on ya.
