Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

WWW
« on: June 14, 2008, 02:51:42 PM »

Yesterday, I received the news that the Tourist Board is letting go all of its part-time employees.  So that means i am now again without a job.  However, the situation is not like last year.  My daughter is even a bit glad because she feels I will rest more.  Also, since she came back, she has been the effective bread winner of the home.  I was using my pay to deal with debts that accumulated when I was out of a job.
My supervisor fought for us and made them give us two weeks pay which i will receive along with my regular pay on Monday.  that is cool.  My tutoring on the side has also come to an end as this is the start of summer holidays.  So except for going to dialysis three times a week, I will be a lady of leisure, if you please!

I love having all my time to myself and I hope you'll enjoy that too as you adjust to it Bajanne.  Money is always the issue about not working but if that's not too big a problem then the rest can be a real bonus. :cuddle;

Ahhh....Bajanne....maybe your daughter is right.  You need a little more rest.  Try to take advantage of it
and rest, rest, rest.  This too shall pass, Sweetie.

Love, Mimi

Take a break and rest for a while.   The right job will show up when you least expect it.

So sorry, bajanne, because it's so unfair -- I bet you were GREAT at that job!! Try to enjoy being a lady of leisure for a while; you deserve it!  Rest and try to relax a bit, because, knowing you, I have no doubt that you'll be working again before long! :cuddle;

I had to hunt around to learn that you live in the Virgin Islands.  I hope that this will be a time for you to rest more and enjoy the island life.

Thank you all for your caring thoughts and encouragement.  I am taking things much easier.  And I spent half of today on the beach with my grandson.   Water was crystal clear, and so calm!  Do a Google search for 'Cane Garden Bay Beach' check 'images' and you will see where I was.  It is the premier beach in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.  when the cruise ships are in, the beach is crowded!

OMG I am so jealous!!!!!

I have so wanted to go to the Virgin Islands for years now.  I keep telling my husband that when he can travel again (and we have some money saved again) we need to go to the Virgin Islands.

Is Maho Bay near you?  Some of our friends go there every year.  There is an eco-resort and apparently the prices are reasonable because you can rent a platform tent on the beach.

We were there again this Saturday, this time with a little friend of his.  Had a marvellous time!  Think all my Saturdays are going to go like this until September when tutoring starts again!

Bajanne - So sorry to hear about your job, but it sounds like a blessing in disguise.  Enjoy your free time, especially since you get to play with your grandson.

On another note, I'm so sorry you have to spend your days at that beautiful, tropical beach, how horrible it must be for you!  :sarcasm; :P

This really needed an update.
Well, when the cruise ship season started back in October, they hired us all back again!  The season was extremely busy and sometimes I would work 13 days straight without a break (even Saturdays and Sundays).  Somedays there were more than 5 ships a day in our territory (but only 2 can dock at the pier where I work) The paychecks were great!  The season always comes to a near halt in April.  In May, there are only 3 ships scheduled for the entire month.
This time, I was looking forward to the break.  With my new grandson coming, it will be fine to have less work.
The college semester also ends this month, so that frees up two evenings a week as well.
I now work on Tuesdays and Thursdays at a Museum run by our Tourist Board.  That is cool.  It is a very quiet place and it will make sure I do get enough pay to pay the bills!
I don't know if I told you guys, but they have changed my M-T-F shift time to 3.15 p.m.  This is a new shift started.  If they had had this shift when I started dialysis, I would not have lost my high school teaching job.  The advantage is that I can stay to work longer on my dialysis days (and earn more!)
