     Xbandito, Ah we look a bit alike, now.  I feel sorry for you man.  I'm serious, not joking.

What's past is prologue

« Reply #51 on: January 26, 2010, 12:28:58 PM »

Around the time I first met my husband, my nickname was 'scully' because of the character on X-files - I was told I resembled her, and one day I wore a pinstripe suit to work and that was that.

My other two primary ones - Kate Winslet and Drew Barrymore - have already been mentioned by others. I especially heard the Drew Barrymore one frequently. At the corporate show where I met Gwyn there was a woman who would say I looked so much like Lisa-Marie Presley that she could not bring herself to call me anything but Lisa. (My name is not Lisa. I just smiled and backed away from her.) My husband said that I reminded him of Cyndi Lauper - not so much in appearance but personality and the way I carried myself? I am still puzzling over that one.

Two that I am not really familiar with: a girlfriend said I looked just like Clara Bow and a date said I looked shockingly like one of the Gish actresses, but I cannot remember Lillian or Dorothy.

I am one of these people that others constantly claim they have met before, worked with before, seen before. I used to field a lot of bizarre questions on this topic.

Me too Cariad, people are always telling me they know me, and I am lost. But many many years ago I was told I looked like Goldie Hawn. ( laugh in ) Maybe because my bangs needed trimming, LOL.

Getting the heck out of town.

« Reply #53 on: January 26, 2010, 12:50:52 PM »

Truthfullly Phil I was a dead ringer for Tony Perkins.  I've been chased for autographs people thinking I was him.
Goulet I never  saw that.  That's what the priest said.  He always said I  sounded like him (which my "crooning" voice was similar.
The Buddy Hackett thing was after I started gaining weight and had the big fat cheeks.

Now after a year of dialysis I guess I looked like one of those dead actors on Law and Order or something.

There's a picture of me on facebook from August and another from Dec. 30, 2009.  I aged 40 years during that time it seems.

Do you know I have never once been told I look like any one!  I'd never thought of that before.  There's a thing I could write in the 10 things you don't know about me thread...

Long ago, when my hair was darker, several people told me I looked like Sandra Bullock.  Though I don't see it, I'll take it as a compliment.   ;D

Me too Cariad, people are always telling me they know me, and I am lost.

 :rofl; Yes, it's quite confusing for all when it happens.

I never thought my husband looked like anyone until I saw Shrek. Gwyn and Shrek share many of the same facial expressions, especially when Shrek is aggravated, he looks just like Gwyn trying to be annoyed with the kids, but failing. Then we saw Shrek II and it was as if Gwyn had served as a model for the human Shrek.

Gwyn does not take this as any kind of compliment. :waiting;

Ha ha Cariad.  That's a classic.  I'll always think of him when I see Shrek now.  You'll have to put a photo of your better half on now!

 :rofl; Looney, you're so sweet to say. Thankfully, Gwyn has a great sense of humor about himself. Not every guy could take it in stride when his wife reports "I kinda let it slip on IHD that you look like Shrek." :rofl;

Oh, yes, Rob, I can totally see it. Although I seem to remember that character was much scruffier looking than you. Great pic!
