  I cant find alot of info on buttonhole care.....  I have been dialysis late into the evening and just go to bed with my bandage...... but now that I am training on Nxstage and doing this every day.... I would like to know what others do with their buttonholes........How long do you leave on the bandage.... do you put anything on it... like anit bac or any other ointment......  small bandages ......  or do you leave it to air dry.....

I keep the bandages on for 1 hour after treatment.  I then take them off do not put anything else on them.

Hubby does the same thing.  Once they scab they are fine.

Same here.  Just be careful not to disturb the scab as you remove the bandaid.

Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Im in training at Wellbound in Modesto CA. They are instucting us to add a dab of antibiotic ouitment to the botton holes just before tape up. I also keep the tape on about 2 to 4 hours as writin

No tape, no bandage, no ointment, not even a Band-Aid for Marvin's buttonholes.  After I pull the needles, he holds the sites for a few minutes with folded gauze (maybe 5-10 mins., depending on how long it takes to stop bleeding).  Then, he leaves them "naked."  Of course, the first 30 minutes or so after a treatment, he's watching them closely to make sure no break-through bleeding occurs.  But, it never has.  That's it for us.
