Almost 3 Months Since My Transplant

Hello all,

Next Tuesday will be 3 months since my 2nd kidney transplant. I cannot believe that until this day the Lord has kept me on a very healthy level. My creatnine is 1.2 and I have had no complications. The only minor situation is that my blood pressure is constantly low but I manage it by increasing my salt and water intake. Low blood pressure does not really bother me anyway because at least I do not have to be on any medication for it. I have been seeing the doctor every 2 weeks now and I am just overall happy, blessed and excited. With my 1st transplant I had complications such as high blood pressure and anemia but I feel so great. I have not gained weight at all which I thought I would since the prednisone is still at 15mg. It's crazy. My life could not be any better at the moment. Another minor problem is that I have been feeling slight ups and downs with my mood still. On friday I am also seeing the psychiatrist to see what exactly could be wrong with me. I must say I have always had a low self esteem and have always been a not so confident individual. So I am finally going to get some help. I am a little nervous but I know it will be worthwhile.

Mood changes with prednisone or other steroid treatments are common. In some cases, particularly at high doses, more severe mood swings — and even mild depression and mania — can occur. Fortunately, the effects are reversible and mood returns to normal when the dose is lowered or the prednisone course is completed.
If the mood swings continue, switching drugs may alleviate the symptoms. Be sure to tell your doctor what's happening, and discuss dosage and whether a change or reduction is possible.

Fantastic news.  Hope they sort out those mood swings soon - I'll be one the drugs I'm sure.  I like how you say you have to eat more salt and drink more - just like that eh???  Lucky thing!
